A lovely english retreat in the Dordogne

Rate :

"La Ferme de Tayac" has a perfect location, in les Ezyes, which is one of the best town to visit the region as it is quite central, but with all the quietness you could expect from Perigord but rarely get. The house is lovely and no more than 5 bedroms are to rent, which make you feel like your were going to your country house. Mike and Suzan are the perfect hosts and their sense of humour (english humour) bring to the place a wonderfull and friendly atmosphere. The Bedrooms are nice and clean, with just the perfect decor. I strongly recomend to everyone la ferme de Tayac and will maybe meet one of you there because I will come back.

You Have to Stay Here!”

Rate :

We stayed six nights here and wished we could have stayed longer. The hosts, Mike and Suzanne, made us feel very much at home in thier beautiful and historical inn. Everything you see and read on their web site is true. We truly felt like we were guests in a good friend's home. The location is fantastic and the restored monistary, and grounds are spectacular. Very close to town within walking distance of great restaurants and the sights of the area.

Torneremo presto, ormai siamo in famiglia. Dimenticavo, non prendono i bambini piccoli, sappiatevi regolare!

Ferme de Tayac stay

Rate :

We chose this B&B;based on wonderful reviews on Trip Advisor, and we weren't disappointed. Everything was lovely, from the room to the grounds to the swimming pool. We very much enjoyed meeting the interesting folks staying there, and Mike & Suzanne were most helpful and hospitable. This was our first time at a B&B;but it was more comfortable than many hotels. It's a short walk into Les Eyzies which is a charming little village with a number of restaurants, and a short drive to many of the caves. Perfect location, very quiet, nice breakfast - an excellent choice for a stay in the Dordogne. We were there only 3 nights but could have enjoyed a visit that was twice as long.

Definitely recommend Ferme de Tayac!

We were on a week-long stay in the Dordogne Valley and picked the Ferme de Tayac based on its positive Trip Advisor reviews. We were not disappointed - it is a really lovely place to stay! Down a little side road about 5 minutes walk from the centre of the small town Les Eyzies de Tayac, the Ferme de Tayac provided the 3 most comfortable nights of our 8 nights in France. Suzanne greeted us with a warm welcome and showed us to our room, which was large and cozy with a massive bed and plenty of space to move around. The bed was just fantastic - I slept so well all three nights! Breakfast was around a large table in the living/dining area which is open to guests at all times, and there were croissants, bread, butter and jam as well as juice and coffee and yogurt or a boiled egg. A perfect start to the day. The Ferme de Tayac is convenient for exploring the local caves with their prehistoric drawings and etchings (Font de Gaume and les Combarelles) as well as the local area with some stunning scenery (go to St Leon sur Vezere for a truly picturesque stop for lunch). At the Ferme de Tayac we felt really at home and it was nice and easy to walk to the many restaurants in Les Eyzies. Suzanne also does meals and although we didn't end up eating there, the smells from the kitchen in the evening were wonderful! There is also a terrific pool with plenty of chairs and space to sit around. Suzanne and Mike have done a spectacular job in renovating and the Ferme de Tayac is a truly relaxing and special find - we hope to be back sometime soon!

Absolutely beautiful, couldn't more highly recommend a stay

We found this b&b;online and couldn't have been more delighted with the place when we arrived. Suzanne and Mike were extremly welcoming and work really hard to make you feel comfortable. They were also really helpful with information about the surrounding area. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the bed in the room we had (which overlooks the main entrance courtyard) was enormous! The shower was powerful in the room and all the fittings were new and very clean. The bed linen was really comfortable too. Inside, the B&B;is lovely, with exposed stone work and old beams. It is also decorated in neutral colours, sympathetic to the building itself and the natural surroundings in general. Breakfast was great - a boiled egg each, croissants, pains au chocolat, bread, homemade jams, yoghurt, museli, tea, coffee, juice. The swimming pool is very refreshing and relaxing andfits into the surroundings perfectly. All in all, we will, without a doubt, return to this property. Aside from being absolutely lovely in itself, it is perfectly placed to explore the beautiful region. Amy & Baz

Couldn't have booked a better place

Rate :

We found this place even better than the reviews. We were five couples, travelling together, and we stayed 4 nights. Our hosts were great, beer and wine available, use of the pool after a day out in the car, and Suzanne cooked a lovely 5 course meal for us the first night. We were made very welcome and I would recommend this place unreservedly

Accommodation doesn't get better than this

Rate :

We read a lot about this B&B;on the internet, and could not wait to spend a few nights here, and explore the Vezere Valley. We booked for 3 nights, but ended up staying 8, and I believe it is the first time ever that I was sad to leave a B&B;. We got excellent instructions from Suzanne & Mike (Hosts) on how to get from Ch. de Gaule airport in Paris all the way to Les Eyzies de Tayac. The B&B;is absolutely amazing, the oldest part is 12th century, and it is a former farmhouse / monastery run by the munks. the rooms are very spacious and cozy. We had excellent views of the rock face riddled with prehistoric dwellings. Suzanne and Mike are lovely people who go out of there way to make your stay an enjoyable one, they gladly share their knowledge of the area with their guests, we went places that you will not find on any maps or in any guide books, and all FREE, We spent 8 wonderful days walking, canoeing, horse riding and just relaxing at the pool. Les Eyzies is a quaint village, but you have seen it within a few hours, but the area around it is absolutely amazing, you could spend weeks... months exploring it. B&B;Ferme de Tayac, and Suzanne & Mike made our stay in the Prehistoric Capital an unforgettable experience,. If you want to experience the REAL Dordogne, and not get caught in the tourist rutt, then this is definately the place to stay.
